I know it sounds kind of crazy and perhaps difficult to deal with, but is a sky burial for a cat a viable option for a cat funeral? I guess the real question here is can you handle it?
For me the answer would be yes. In fact I want nothing to do with the remains of my cat or my family members for that matter. Sky Burials are such an interesting Tibetan practice. For me it ties us back to the earth such a powerful way, that other funeral practices don’t even come close to.
I can recall losing my cat, to what I imagine was a fox. It was a tough experience for me, because I was away from the house during this time and working. And when I came home the cat was just gone. So without my decision Mina had been given a ‘sky burial.’
In my opinion it doesn’t matter after the animal is dead. If you give your cat a sky burial you are helping the animals in the area survive with a good meal. And there is not need to make any funeral arrangements.
The down side to this decision is the torment of knowing you didn’t give your cat the traditional funeral/ memorial with dignity. But what is undignified about a sky burial?
